HGTV’s latest installation of House Hunters (my guilty pleasure) is “Tiny House Hunters,” promoting the new trend of less-is-more living. Big is good (McMansions / log cabins / million-dollar rooms) and tiny might even be better, but what about just…small? It got me thinking about apartments I’ve lived in Italy, where small is the name of the game. I remember trying to dust what I thought was a little chest of drawers in an apartment in Spoleto, when all of a sudden the front dropped forward and a spare bed popped out! Italians sure know how to maximize space. Dolce Vita US is about importing (completely duty-free) the best parts of Italy, making American life just a little more Italian. Home is the best place to start! In the vein of Sarah Susanka, author of The Not So Big House, I am going to take the next few blog posts to explore how Italians live so well in such small spaces. Comment and share your Italian apartment stories!
